I am selling my Jeep. Price is wildly optimistic because everyone on Craiglist is a lowballer.
Link: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
If you're curious, let me know. Price is gymnast-level flexible. I just need to sell it to fund something automatic for my wife. She's chill, but doesn't want a manual while nannying because the kids are distracting and obnoxious in the car.
I'm open to trades, too...

I hate dealing with local ads. "oh I see you have it listed for 12,000 would you take 8,000 and a leather jacket?"
![]() 08/29/2013 at 16:54 |
|
btw, sad to see it go, are you replacing it with something cool?
NP for the most part, btw, since its clean. 1996 was the best cherokee year, I had a 95

Looks like you ... you know ... had something happen in the front passenger seat.

Haha, yeah, craigslist is awful, but it seems to work. I've used it before though, and if you can put up with the bullshit it's okay for selling stuff.

CP, but you knew that. NP for the haggle to work out in your favor.

its how I sold my forester xt 5 sp. well, the local news classifieds anyway (which, btw, is one of the heaviest visited internet sites in the western us apparently) asked 11500, got 11000

I don't really know my jeeps, but I know that these can be pretty desireable and yours seems to be in pretty good shape, so NP.
I'd probably say list it on Ebay, just because the people are typically better on ebay than craigslist (or at least they used to be-it's kind of going the wrong way now).
PS-is that shit?

I'm sad to see it go too...but I just bought the GTI, so there's no way in hell I'm getting rid of that, and my wife says she can't deal with a manual plus ornery kids right now. I think she'll come around, but in the meantime I need to get an automatic for her.
I'm looking at everything...VW Jettas, Golfs, LR Discoverys, Jeep Cherokees, a few E36 BMWs, couple of Volvos, Passats, a random Audi 100 wagon...anything mildly interesting with an automatic and not-terrible mileage on the odo.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 17:00 |

Nice! I'd take anything 4,000 or above, probably. I think it's worth that much, considering how low mileage and how well it runs.

I'll give you $600 cash and a ferret.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 17:02 |

Haha, it's the former owner (friend of mine). Spilled oatmeal on the seat. I threw a keffiyeh scarf over it because I couldn't get it out.

Hah, thanks! We'll see...last craigslist experience was selling 33in mud tires (mounted, around 5,000 miles of wear on them), and most people offered around 200$. Gotta love Craigslist.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 17:04 |
|
That sounds good, but would you throw in an Angora rabbit named Soren? I'm into that.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 17:05 |
|
I'm going to list it on ebay when I get home, I think, even though ebay's fees are fucking irritating.
Also, oatmeal. Thank my friend who owned the jeep before me.

stay away from high mile vw, especially anything older than 2009. I bought a 97 land cruiser 80 for 6500, but it had 230k miles on it...runs great despite some expensive hiccups i didn't know about until I got it.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 17:07 |
|
I'm out of Angora rabbits. Would you take a ferret and a hamster?
![]() 08/29/2013 at 17:09 |
|
They definitely are. I know they just changed them though, but I think that's only for when you relist them.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 17:10 |

...and if they do say they want to buy, they don't show up, or don't bring enough money, or try to write a check.

A Few Suggestions (Only)
1. Remove the "bad" from your ad; explain when folks arrive
2. Remove "I will consider all offers"; screams of serious problems
3. Do not offer to bring the vehicle for anyone to test drive; unnecessary
4. Remove all words related to your wife or family; unnecessary
5. Remove all words related to trades; unnecessary
Keep the line "I love the Jeep, but need it gone". The interior is not gonna help, so you might wish to reduce the price to $4250 Firm! Good Luck.

Jalop owned which means it was taken care of. I'd pay 5k for it.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 18:42 |
|
Haha, that might be excessive, but thanks for the sentiment.
Want to buy it for less than 5k? I'll deliver...
![]() 08/29/2013 at 18:43 |

Exactly! The worst.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 18:44 |
|
Thanks for the tip! Any particular reason for staying away from pre-09 vws?
Also, land cruisers are awesome.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 18:45 |

Thanks for the tips! I'll fix it when I get home.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 18:49 |

prior to 09 QC was pretty poor with the VW line, its pretty comon to have major problems with the jetta and passat platform. 09 is about when they started to iron it out.
![]() 08/29/2013 at 18:58 |

Good to know, thanks!
![]() 08/29/2013 at 18:58 |

I would for fun, but I can't this time; sorry: haha
![]() 08/29/2013 at 23:38 |

Its not too far off, I would say anywhere from 3500-4000 would be a reasonable price. I can trade ya for a 99 lincoln continental if your interested lol.
![]() 08/30/2013 at 08:12 |
|
I don't think my wife would like the Lincoln, unfortunately, but thanks.
I would take an offer in that range; I doubt anyone would pay asking price, and I'm certain to get obnoxious lowballers whatever I price it.

NP all the way! Nice Jeep.
![]() 09/03/2013 at 07:58 |
|
Thanks! Buy it from me...? It's on ebay as well, but has a few days left.
![]() 09/03/2013 at 13:29 |

If I could afford it I would. I don't want to sell my power wagon.
![]() 09/03/2013 at 15:26 |
|
Can't blame you there; I wouldn't want to sell a power wagon either. Hell, I don't even want to sell the Jeep. :(
Have any pics of the power wagon? I'd love to see it.

Mine is a '79, 250,000 miles, still running strong with that bullet proof Turbo Diesel.
![]() 09/03/2013 at 19:06 |
|
Nice! I occasionally dreamt of a turbo diesel swap into the jeep if the 4.0 I6 ever died...except now I have to sell it. :( Maybe a future project if I'm ever able to find a good one again...
